2026 Boutique Gardens Competition Finalists
Garden: Re-Learn, Re-Grow | Design: Olivera Garden Designs | Construction: Olivera Garden Designs
Re-Learn, Re-Grow by Olivera Garden Designs is a thoughtful exploration of landscape, memory and meaning, led by Landscape Architect and Director Alannah. Specialising in residential landscape design, Alannah is known for creating gardens that are both beautiful and purposeful, with a strong focus on sustainability, edible planting, and the use of indigenous species to enhance ecological value and strengthen connection to place.
Set on the Victorian Volcanic Plains, Re-Learn, Re-Grow explores the layered history beneath our feet. The garden moves through time, reflecting Aboriginal pre-colonial, colonial and present-day relationships with land. Rising from left to right, its structural layers symbolise shifting values of land use and invite visitors to reflect on how we engage with our garden spaces today. Through cycles of growth, decay and regeneration, the design becomes a metaphor for re-learning, healing and restoring our relationship with the environment, acknowledging the past while looking toward a more considered future.

Creeping thyme and native violets soften the ground plane, and a graceful ginkgo provides cooling shade and timeless presence. Under a slim louvred canopy, a warm deck supports breathwork, stretching and rest, while tempo steps encourage balance and gentle movement. Designed as a garden you can live with, Longevity shows how wellbeing can feel effortless, beautiful and deeply embedded in everyday outdoor spaces.

Garden: White | Design: Centred Landscapes | Construction: Centred Landscapes
White by Centred Landscapes is a study in restraint, precision and warmth, where a refined white palette becomes the foundation for texture, movement and atmosphere. Based on the Mornington Peninsula, Centred Landscapes is a design-and-construct studio led by directors Paul and Lockie, who bring more than 25 years of combined experience and a shared belief in gardens as true extensions of the home, places to gather, unwind and spend time outdoors.
Driven by close listening, purposeful design and quality craftsmanship, the team has created a garden where every element is carefully considered. Circular forms flow throughout the space, creating a sense of continuity and calm, from large-format concrete and limestone steppers to a curved seating zone that anchors the garden. A plunge pool clad in limestone crazy paving continues the motif, offering a quiet moment of retreat, while a sculptural pizza oven becomes the social heart of the space. Layered planting adds softness and contrast, with sculptural forms, gentle movement and edible elements integrated seamlessly into the design. White reveals a palette that is not stark, but richly textured, inviting and timeless.

Garden: Reverie| Design: Timeless Outdoors|Construction: Timeless Outdoors
Reverie by Timeless Outdoors is a contemplative garden that explores materiality, movement and mood, inviting visitors into a space of calm, curiosity and quiet escape. Based in Daylesford, Timeless Outdoors is a landscape design and construction studio founded by Aaron Leslie and Kelsey Johns, with a focus on creating high-quality outdoor spaces that endure beyond trends. With in-house design, construction and maintenance capabilities, the team delivers landscapes grounded in practical knowledge, regional sensitivity and respect for the natural environment.
At the heart of Reverie is a celebration of material versatility. Innovative use of slate roof tiles as a walling element introduces unexpected texture and speaks to the studio’s commitment to sustainable, considered design. Circular forms guide the layout, with a central spa drawing the eye outward to a surrounding band of lush grass, creating rhythm and depth. Floating elements add a sense of lightness and artistic expression, transforming the garden into a living canvas. Designed as a modern watering hole, Reverie becomes a sanctuary for reflection, a place where nature encourages stillness, imagination and restoration.

Garden: Native Whispers | Design: Rubira by Design | Construction: Rubira by Design
Native Whispers by Rubira by Design is a gentle, immersive garden that celebrates the meeting of nostalgia and nature. Designed by Yarra Valley–based, award-winning landscape designer Emily, the garden reflects her deep respect for the natural world and her commitment to creating landscapes that are both beautiful and ecologically rich.
Grounded in native planting and inspired by cottage-core romance, Native Whispers places pollinators at the heart of its story. A soft, layered planting style combines flowing drifts of native grasses with sculptural shrubs and upright perennials, creating movement, texture and seasonal interest. Each plant is selected for both its aesthetic contribution and its ecological role, supporting biodiversity and resilience. At the centre of the garden, a handcrafted greenhouse made from recycled materials acts as a practical yet poetic focal point. A low, flagstone bubbling water feature weaves sound and life through the space, offering refreshment for birds and pollinators while inviting moments of pause and reflection. In every detail, Native Whispers offers a quiet invitation to slow down and reconnect with the landscape.
