Membership Categories
Master Landscaper - Builder
A Master Landscaper Builder member is a registered practitioner with the VBA (Victorian Building Authority) with a DB-L and CDB-L registration number. If you complete any structural landscaping you are required by law to be a registered landscaper with the VBA. There are many benefits to obtaining your domestic builders registration such as being able to apply for the necessary insurances, as well as having the skills and experience required to deliver quality outcomes. If you require this licence we offer RBP (Registered Building Practitioner) workshops through our training partner Builders Edge Consulting.
Master Landscaper - Designer
A Master Landscape Designer is a creative interpreter of a clients needs and the working site’s abilities. A Master Landscape Designer is an integral part of turning a clients thoughts & ideas into a visual creation to then be brought to life through construction. Landscape Designers may work as a company or as a sole trader. They provide landscape consultations, designs, and drawings for the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors. To become a Designer you must have an accredited qualification in horticulture, landscape design or architecture as well as holding Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Master Landscaper - Gardener/Horticulturalist
A Master Landscape Gardener or Horticulturalist is a service provider who offers non-structural services such as soft landscaping and garden maintenance, i.e. work that does not require building permits or for the member to hold RBP status. A Landscape Gardener will generally have a relevant qualification in horticulture.
Master Landscaper - Pool Builder
A Master Landscaper Pool Builder member is a registered practitioner with the VBA (Victorian Building Authority) with a DB-L and CDB-L registration number. If you undertake pool and spa construction you are required by law to be a registered pool builder with the VBA. There are many benefits to obtaining your domestic builder’s registration such as being able to apply for the necessary insurances, as well as having the skills and experience required to deliver quality outcomes. If you require this licence we offer RBP (Registered Building Practitioner) workshops through our training partner Builders Edge Consulting.
Master Landscaper - Commercial
A Master Commercial member is a landscape or civil construction business who offers structural landscaping to the commercial and industrial sectors, or a business who subcontracts (100%) to a developer, consortium or other commercial outfit.
As a Commercial Landscaper of the construction industry you will be required to be registered make Co-Invest payments to employees, workers, working subcontractors, working directors & apprentices. Co-Invest is an industry long service leave contribution scheme.
Currently the VBA (Victorian Building Authority) does not have a legal requirement for a Commercial Landscaper to hold a CB-L or Commercial Builders Licence. In the future it will become a legal requirement. To become a Landscaping Victoria Master Landscaper under the Commercial category it is highly regarded to have obtained this licence. Master Landscaper - Supplier
A Master Supplier is a member who represents an integral aspect of the industry by supplying innovative products or services to the highest quality and standards to Landscape practitioners. There are a number of Supplier membership tiers, with an opportunity to become a Landscaping Victoria Master Partner.
Master Landscaper - Affiliate / Council
There are many opportunities and specialities that may constitute a Master Affiliate member of Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers. From Builder, Licenced Project Managers, Photographers, Engineers, Draftsmen, Arborists, Pool Builders, Turf Installation Professionals, Electricians and Plumbers or Specialised Service and Councils to name a few. If you offer a service to compliment or assist within the Landscaping Industry this would be the most suited membership category.
Depending on your expertise to become a member of this category may require relevant qualifications and licencing to keep in line with industry regulations.
Provisional Membership - Designer, Builder or Gardener
Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers offer a Provisional membership to those working within the Landscaping Industry who would like to become a member of the association but who may not currently hold the relevant registration, licences or expertise level that enables them the eligibility for a full Master Landscaper Membership. We encourage all industry professionals, no matter what level you are at, to apply to join the Association as we have a membership category for everyone.
Provisional membership is ideal for those businesses who have been trading for less than 2 years.
Throughout the application process and your Provisional Membership period, we offer mentoring and assistance as well as training programs and workshops to get you to Master Landscaper Status.
Student / Teacher Membership
A Landscaping Victoria Master Landscaper Student/Teacher Membership is open to all industry specific training institutions, teaching staff, and all students and apprentices currently undertaking study and training in a landscape related field. For teachers wishing to apply under the Student/Teacher banner, membership is available to any full time or sessional industry specific teaching staff, who are not receiving an income for work in the industry during the course of their membership. For students or apprentices, there are many benefits to becoming a Student Member as you will gain exposure to meeting industry professionals, mentoring and additional training and experience throughout the early stages of learning, as well as developing relationships with Supplier Members who will later be integral to your own business. Many Student Members have gone on to become Master Landscapers, running successful businesses, winning Industry Awards and being highly regarded in the industry.

- Application Fee: $330 (One-Time Payment)
- Memberships renew at the the beginning of each new Financial Year. New members will be invoiced a pro-rata Annual Subscription Fee from the date of acceptance until 30th June of that year. Membership fees can be paid annually or in monthly instalments.

The Fine Print
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU APPLY?
1. Application is received and reviewed internally by Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers administration.
2. If your application is suitable to proceed, you will:
- be notified in writing
- be invoiced for the application fee
3. Upon receipt of payment your file will be sent to the Membership Committee for assessment.
4. If approved for membership you will:
- be notified in writing
- invoiced for pro-rata annual subscription fee
5. On receipt of your Membership fee in full you are recorded as a Member of the Association and will have entitlement to the Associations benefits and entitlements, applicable in your nominated category.
Membership fees are payable in advance, with rates applicable to the various Membership groups of Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers Membership
reviewed and set by the Board each year. No concessions or discounts are applicable to Membership fees. Upon receipt of payment you will be sent a Membership Pack with full details of your benefits, your obligations and your membership login details.
6. If you are not accepted for membership, you may be offered Provisional Membership. This will be at the discretion of the assessor and the Board.
You may remain a Provisional Member for up to 12 months. In this time your portfolio of work can be expanded upon as you are supported with professional guidance. A further assessment of works completed during this time will be required in order to potentially grant you full membership. Please refer to the Provisional Member Application form for more details.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Membership of Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers is bound by the Terms and Conditions of the Association, found here.
Members of Landscaping Victoria Incorporated believe that the interests of the community at large can best be served through the observance
of a Code of Ethics which recognises that community confidence in the landscaping industry is enhanced by:

To further these aims, Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers members are expected to:
- Enhance and foster professional and ethical practice in rendering services;
- Maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity to clients, fellow members and the community;
- Comply with all laws and regulations in the conduct of their business;
- Encourage educational development and training at all times;
- Encourage a spirit of harmony and co-operation between members;
- Act in a manner which advances the standing of the industry in the community.
DISCLAIMER
Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers retains the right to accept or reject an application. All benefits attributed to each level of sponsorship will be valid and must be utilised within that financial year. No refund of credit will be issued for unused components of Supplier Memberships. Supplier Memberships are a fixed cost and payable in full regardless of date of joining. Yearly subscription fees are invoiced as at June 30 each year.
**Important Note: Only Master Landscaper Members will be eligible to gain access to the unlimited suite of member benefits. For Provisional and Education Members, there will be a number of benefits that are not available until unlimited membership is gained. A full outline of benefits will be communicated at time of approval for individual membership category.**
